“Grief is where all possibilities reside”

We can learn how to honor grief from watching the weather

cyclical, seasonal, unpredictable.

Grief rolls in the way those out of season days

turn June into January over night.

Grief descends like rain upon the sun
out of nowhere.

Like spring hail destroying the crocuses who dare

to breach the frosty surface.

Grief pummels and permeates

like the fog of invisibility

casting a silver haze

making the way impossible to see.

Yet there is an impersonal beauty to the fog, the hail,
the cold front that steals
those perfect summer days away.

Within the chaos of the weather we can learn how to surrender.

How to be nourished by the empty.

How to be misty droplets

foggy and thick

that eventually burn away.

How to plunge into the depths of the coldest winter nights
that never last beyond the morning light-

how to linger and lightning,

how to dance and doldrum,

how to inhabit the unfathomable places where grief hides

for this is where

all possibilities reside.

Grief is where all possibilities reside

*In polarity therapy there are five elements which manifest in the body as the chakras. The fifth element correlates to ether residing at the throat center. Ether is the first element to take physical form, therefor, it has the highest frequency. 

There is a positive and negative pole to everything, even the qualities of energy and emotion that our chakras and elements help us process. In the ether, the positive pole emotional association is a feeling of oneness and euphoria-

tapping in to the infinite possibilities of all things as of yet un-manifest. 

The emotion associated with the negative pole of ether is grief. 

There is not one that is better than the other. It is necessary to have both poles in order for us to experience our wholeness.  

This painting came to me while I was leading my last Conscious Creators live class. I was sad to let this ritual go yet I felt rightly aligned to be shedding the old in order to let in the new.

In this class we utilize our imagination and intuition to journey for inspiration and then create art from what we retrieve. In my meditation I went to the center of the cosmos where infinite possibilities exist and from a swirling pool of stars I drank and drank until I was full of nothingness- the essence of everything-ness.

In order to welcome space and potential I had to honor my grief which is a natural part of life that deserves to be honored more in community.

This was how this painting came to me.
